Was there a lot to take in on Day 1 at Amazon Fashion Week this year? Well, let’s just say we saw the highest of highs and lowest of lows. From disapproving gazes to a collective crowd cheer, the verdict on the day’s line-up was just as moody as Delhi’s weather.

Here’s our take on the opening day of Amazon Fashion Week:

The day in Emojis: fashion week in emojis

The highest of highs: Shantanu and Nikhil. Does this designer duo EVER go wrong? We’re ready to start a cult following (anyone what to join in?). With beautiful, cascading drapes, delicate lace skirts and strong shoulder-robing wraps, the neutral to crimson ensembles were strong and feminine all at once. We’re sure Khaleesi would approve!trends at amazon india fashion week AW2016- shantanu and nikhil

The lowest of lows: Nude Lurex dresses with pompoms and pops of metallic pink applique at the Rina Dhaka show? Umm, we think nay.

The OMG moment: Our hearts melted at the sight of Surelee Joseph in Gaurav Gupta’s white gown from his show Melt. Let’s break it down for you- a white bodycon gown elegantly embellished with gold beads, a defining neckline and berry lips. A Beaut!trends at amazon india fashion week AW2016- gaurav gupta melt

The “what-is-she/he-wearing” stare: There’s no way you wouldn’t have noticed her (if you were there!). She’s got her denim jacket on and it’s embellished with colourful cuddly hearts. Do we love it? Of course we do! #cuddleworthystreet style at amazon india fashion week AW2016

The colour of the day: C-R-I-M-S-O-N. If we could, we’d scream it out for you! Deep and leaning towards a tinge of purple, this red makes Ruby Woo want to take a step back.trends at amazon india fashion week AW2016

The best use of embellishments: Embroidered birdies and foliage make our hearts skip. Embroidered gold tone beads brought some twinkle to the ramp. Quirky seen at Hemant and Nandita vs. elegant at Gaurav Gupta.

The shoes to look out for: It’s the loafers from Varun Bahl vs. the knee high boots from Hemant and Nandita’s show. For AW2016 we’re leaning towards the knee high boots. What’s your verdict?trends at amazon india fashion week AW2016- shoes

The on-fleek make-up: With gentle wavy hair and berry-toned lips, we think this one’s easy to nail and oh-so -wintry.trends at amazon india fashion week AW2016- makeup trends

The green-with-envy feeling: Floral bomber jackets spotted at the Hemant and Nandita show. Can we have 10 of these please? #lustlisthemant and nandita at amazon india fashion week AW2016

The trend to take note of: Winter is coming (duh!), so gather up all your winter florals and put them everywhere!! On your shirts, trousers, skirts, jackets and dresses. Wintry florals in metallics and prints are going to be HUGE for AW16.  Also, berry-hued lipsticks in every shade are a MUST.trends at amazon india fashion week AW2016- Varun Bahl

The trend to miss out on: Lurex knits. Period.

The meet-the-frows: Apart from spotting trends, we love to do some good ol’ front row celeb spotting. Today’s stop-and-stare goes to *drumroll* Shahnaz Hussain! Well, before all the Kama’s and Kiehl’s, she was India’s favourite herbal beauty queen.

The hack-to-master: So, your mother’s tried to teach you the “art of saree draping” a million times and you failed at it every single time?? Well, here’s your hack straight from Gaurav Jai Gupta.

Caution: You might suffer from dizziness in the process.trends at amazon india fashion week AW2016- Gaurav Jai Gupta
