From natural indigo dyed fabrics to a sparkle of sequins, Day 4 was an eclectic mix of personas! While some collections stemmed down to sustainable roots, others took on a slightly more glamorous route. Either way, the line-up was one big party that we’re glad we didn’t miss out on (worry not, we’ve got the deets for you!).
Offering elements of both rustic and refined, Eka’s collection is all about easy fabrics and effortless style that comes with a ‘bucolic’ beauty that is timeless. With a refreshing simplicity that comes with no boundaries, the ensembles speak to every woman. Individualistic and unique, the collection represents an exploration of hand made and sustainable fabrics. What we loved? Shirt dresses layered over midi dresses, in a summer palette that is pure and elegant. A striped kurta paired with complementing pencil pants, and summer dresses that become perfect transitional pieces with understated statements that go a long way!
Pero, oh Pero! How’d you know we love pyjama parties? With beds laid out on the runway, slumber bags kept ready for us and some marshmallows to bite into, it was evident that no one wanted this party to end. In soft layers and easy handloom fabrics, the ensembles carry an array of details from embroidery to pleats and delicate yet bold trims. From shorts to summer dresses, Aneeth Arora makes night wear a day wear essential! Comfortable, laid-back and oh-so-stylish. And did Kewpie leave us love-struck? Yes, oh yes!
When Malini Ramini puts on a show, you can expect there to be a party on the runway! With disco lights setting the mood and a collection made for divas, her ensembles are oh-so-glam and party-ready. The 70s-inspired off shoulder tops, sequin embellished dresses and tie-dye sarees brought together a collection that was perfect for any retro night. Bringing bling to the summer of 2016, we’re ready to put on our dancing shoes and boogy the night away!
With a show that almost caused a stampede, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna know how to create a ‘statement’ worth every glitterati’s attention. With a lineup of ensembles that went from am-to-pm-to-am dressing, glam is their game and style is their offering. Sharp cuts, a black and white palette off set with peach and mint blue, sequins galore and a dazzling showstopper (Athiya Shetty)- let’s just say the duo left us with stars in our eyes. The front row glitterati approve!
Trend 3- Indigo and Denim
Unique in their sensibilities and processes, 11.11 eleven/eleven’s collection celebrated the manufacturing path of their creations. From seed to stitch, the ensembles revealed the journey of natural and sustainable manufacturing to bring a collection that salutes fibres, processes and the people involved. From undyed off white khadi to use of natural dye pigments like indigo, each ensemble focuses heavily on effortless silhouettes that are neither overdressed nor under dressed. With low crotch pants, open back shawl-like tops and indigo dresses worth lusting for, the collection redefines eco-luxury. And if sustainable is what you’re looking for, you might want to get yourself one of their cardboard hats or shoes. Or DIY it.
And just when we started missing denim for summer, Ikai by Ragini Ahuja, gives us a stylish offering. Anything but conventional, the collection battles out a street and nature inspired look, complete with Lucky Strike applique. Tasseled tan shoes *wishlist*, denim trench coats (uhuh!) and folkloric patterns paired with fluid under layers and leather bralets; an eclectic mix of silhouettes, fabrics and patterns make this collection “smoking” hot. Street wear redefined for you!
