Quick question: An elegant Katrina Kaif, a shirtless Aditya Roy Kapur and music as smooth as Pashmina by Amit Trivedi. Can you think of one word to sum it up?
Hint: It rhymes with “moor” (Sorry, couldn’t think of any other word!)
Yes yes yes, you guessed it right!
Be it Katrina’s fiery red hair or Rekha exiting the film, the Thinking Out Loud-Pashmina controversy or the amazing trailer, this film has caused quite the buzz! Not to mention the fact that this an adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic Great Expectations!
Set to hit the screens in the Valentines week, the underlying tones of the film are red and white! Coincidence much?
Let’s take a look at some of the gorgeous costumes that we spotted in the trailer and some of the songs!
Kat’s stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania says her character, Firdaus, is “quite schizophrenic”, choosing different dressing styles at various points of her life. There is a balance between Indian and western wear; but all her outfits are classic owing to her being a “Begum’s daughter”. And we see exactly that in her formal attire, AND in the elegant ethnic dress finished with some beautiful jewellery!
Combining the evergreen combination of red and black, Kat’s seen wearing a strappy evening dress in a party scene. At the same time, Aditya’s character Noor is quite simply (but stylishly) dressed in a crew neck sweater over a black shirt. We were wondering why he would layer himself up when he has….
….such a sexy bod! We see glimpses of Noor baring his ripped body and muscle-shuscles while working in his studio, wearing NOTHING….
….BUT a pair of denims (and crew neck tees in some scenes)! Who, who can look hot drawing a line on a piece of paper?!
Not only does he wear a kurta but he also does some tashan-mein-walk-in-the-snow in one! In what seems to be a Pathani kurta, he layers it with a shawl during the aforementioned walk. More stunning than the snow itself is Kat running towards him in a beautiful white billowing outfit. We can’t quite express how serene this shot looks!
Speaking of serene, Tabu looks absolutely stunning in the film as Begum Hazrat. Be it the elegantly embroidered Kashmiri attires or the modern flowing gown with Jackie O sunglasses, all her outfits look sublimely regal. We can’t help saying this reminds us of her brilliant role in Haider!
Getting back to our couple, he wears a shawl collar cardigan over a colour blocked T-shirt in one of the scenes. He is accompanied by is lady love who looks ever-so-graceful in a blue Bohemian maxi dress!
In what looks like an outdoor summer party, the attires are all about comfort. Our hero is wearing a Khadi-ish shirt with relaxed trousers, while Kat dons yet another look in a white spaghetti top and a mini denim skirt!
Wearing another mini skirt, she styles it with a black top and a sexy leather biker jacket this time! Her grungy look is stylishly contrasted by Aditya in a smart suit and tie. Another Valentines inspiration for you?
