So, here’s the thing, if you think that New York and Paris fashion attendees follow the “black and minimal” dress code, then honey, you’re going to be in for a shocker. Sure, the Milanese RULE when it comes to nailing street style ensembles, but New Yorkers and Parisians have ditched the minimalism and shown us they know how to do maximalism too(in a big way).
Dressed to beat the frost bite and heat up the streets, we’ve found everything from cool, quirky to glam meets athleisure. But before you take inspiration for your #sartorialgoals list, humor us a little and tell us who’s winning the spot for second? New York or Paris?
Anya Hindmarch and her furry flowers have made quite a statement on and off the runway. What would your pick be: a black coat with pops of fur daisies or a maroon fur coat begging to bring out the ’80s child in you? Also, yay or nay to the furry flowers?
Ok, so we told you athleisure is big right? We’ve seen fashion week attendees from London-Paris-Milan-New York-and-Delhi all work their white Stans, Nike hoodies and sports luxe-inspired pieces to their fashion week style. We’re crushing on this Parisian beauty, whose paired her hoodie with a black fur coat and red gloves (glam Cruella de Vil?). We’re quite digging the pinstripe pants and bomber jacket look- city chic with street vibes nailed!
Bomber jackets are the bomb! What’s more? These ladies styling it up! Who’d have thought bomber jacket paired with sequin cherries and a bandana would look so sweet *wink*. FYI if you’ve not already got yourself a bomber jacket, you’re failing at your #sartorialgoals for this year.
You know the drill: Florals are groundbreaking. We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again- florals are a quick-fix solution for days when you have nothing to wear. Statement making and winter loving, we love the botanical print and cherry blossoms on this robe. What’s your take?
Let’s agree that Emojis are taking over the world! First it was our show of emotions, now it’s our show of style. Either way, we love these yellow-faced quirk masters and we’re willing to give space for them in our wardrobes. But does Anya Hindmarch’s sunny-side up work for you?
We told you rainbows were going to be big, bold and cheery this season. We love this Parisian’s skirt + top ensemble layered under a camel hued trench coat, but we’re still debating over the chunky knit rainbow sweater. Looks like grandma put her knitting needles and leftover Christmas yarns to the test.
Our temps don’t quite allow for anything that has shearling on it, but hey, we can still crush on this 80’s staple. Plus, the high waisted jeans kinda reminds us of our mums’ college style.
Checks are one thing. Big, bold checks? That’s what 2016 is begging for. For the micro-checks, if you’re going to be seen in one, take a cue from Susie Lau and go statement-making. Got that?
